I made the first biltong cake as a trial tester for my son’s birthday in January 2017
It started as just something different and for fun. Who would have thought there would be a demand for Biltong Cakes. But if you think about it, Biltong is such a South Africanism who doesn’t really love Biltong/ Dry wors and there are many people who don’t like sweet – like the traditional Birthday Cake – many prefer Savoury. And that was how Biltong Cakes by Babalooli was born.
We have made more than 500 Biltong Cakes, and too many to count Gift Hampers / Platters. One of our Biltong Cakes was auctioned off for Charity and fetched a whopping, R6000.00.
Our Biltong cakes are as much a presentation statement as much as they are deliciously yummy. The cakes make a great centrepiece on a table and are wonderful conversation starters, as they are very pleasing to look at, whether they are wrapped with a beautiful big bow or even when the wrapping has been removed.

Design
Each cake is made with careful consideration for whom the recipient will be. No 2 cakes are the same, unless it is a Father's Day /Christmas Special. Cakes are made to your specification, you choose the budget, colour scheme and ultimately what it will look like.
Ingrediants
We use Biltong / Dry wors from a reputable registered butcher. We are also able to make Halal cakes (we are not certified, but we will use certified brand name halal biltong. Price and notice period will differ)
Decor
You can choose to add unique décor to your cake to match the occasion, like chocolates, mini bottles, or we can even hide something inside. You can also add a generic topper, or we can have one custom made for you
Build
Yes all our Biltong cakes have dummy inners, the reason for this is that the Dry wors is then built around and on top of it, this way the cake keeps it shape without any fear of it collapsing as they often travel quite a distance and so it is aesthetically pleasing to look at.
How to Order
Advise of the occasion for which the cake is being given, provide as much detail as possible, like gender and age.
Choose a one, two or three tier cake.
Choose the colour scheme & do you need a Cake topper a generic one, Or we can have one personalized especially for you.
Do you want to add anything else on Top, chocolates, mini bottles, or we can even hide something inside?
Will you collect it in Epping or Edgemead ? Or send a delivery service to collect-Uber package is a good choice.
